With thousands of posts remaining vacant over the years in various state government departments, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has issued direction to expedite filling up of over 40,000 posts.
Stating that filling up of these vacancies is most crucial, Patnaik said departments must take proactive steps to remove obstacles in filling up of these vacancies.
He directed the chief secretary to hold video conferencing with district collectors and take steps for filling up vacancies at the district level.

Out of 24,388 posts in the school and mass education department, 8,246 posts have been filled and of 6,260 vacancies in health and family welfare department, 2,232 posts have been filled up. Out of 11,093 vacant posts in SC & ST department, 3,443 posts have been filled up, Patnaik was informed at a meeting yesterday.
Besides, Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has recently published advertisements seeking applications for filling up 682 Group A, 518 Group B and 232 Group C posts in different departments.
Odisha Staff Selection Commission has filled up 1,102 posts in Group B and Group C. The Commission has initiated processes for filling up another 2,632 posts. OPSC has begun process for filling up of 103 posts in Group A, 643 in Group B and 2208 in Group C.
The Chief Minister also directed to take steps as per the advice of the advocate general on disposal of cases pertaining to recruitments which are currently subjudice.
