Ruling BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched the party's state-level padyatra from Raghunath Nagar here on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The regional outfit used to organise this padyatra event every year from Gandhi Jayanti till Jayaprakash Narayan's birth anniversary on October 11. However, this year it has been extended till October 26 keeping in view of the puja vacation this year.
"The aim of the padyatra is to make people aware about the schemes and programmes meant for them," Patnaik said thanking the public for giving the party an opportunity to serve them since 2000.
"The party's each progarmme focuses on Odisha's development and self-esteem. Due to the state government's people-oriented policies there is an increase in confidence among masses on the party," Patnaik said.
