Four days after the convoy of two Union ministers was attacked allegedly by BJD workers at Bargarh, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today ordered an administrative inquiry into the incident which had evoked widespread condemnation.

The Revenue Divisional Commissioner (North) was asked to conduct the inquiry into the attack on the convoy of Union Textile Minister Santosh Gangwar and Union Minister of state for Food Processing Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on June 24, a senior official said.

The RDC has been asked to complete the inquiry and give the report within 60 days, an official in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said.

Suspected BJD workers pelted stones on the convoy of the union ministers and other senior BJP leaders when they were on way to attend the Vikash Parv organised by the party at Bargarh to celebrate completion of two years of the Narendra Modi government.

Black flags were also shown to the senior BJP leaders allegedly by the slogan-shouting BJD workers and leaders.

The incident was condemned by leaders of different political parties.

Concerned over the violent incident, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had called up Odisha Governor S C Jamir and Patnaik the next day and asked them to ensure safety and security of central leaders visiting the state.

In his telephonic conversation, Singh asked Patnaik to look into the incident and take appropriate action to avert such incidents in future.
