Patrol vessel Rajveer to join Coast Guard tomorrow

Rajveer, an Inshore Patrol Vessel (IPV), meant for the Indian Coast Guard, will be commissioned here tomorrow, official sources said here.

The vessel is the seventh in the series of the total eight IPVs built by M/s GRSE, Kolkata for the Coast Guard, an official release said here today.

The 50-metre ship will be commissioned by Defence Secretary R K Mathur, the release said.

The IPV is equipped with the most advanced and sophisticated navigational and communication sensors and equipment.

Its special features include an integrated bridge system, machinery control system and an indigenously built gun mount with fire control system, it said.
 

The ship is designed to carry one rigid inflatable boat and two Geminis for search and rescue, law enforcement and maritime patrol activities.

The vessel will be based at Visakhapatnam, the release added.
