Patwari arrested while taking bribe from Army jawan

A patwari (village level revenue officer) was today allegedly caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 8,000 from an Army jawan at Knad village, some 20 km from here.

Lokayukta police arrested the patwari Dinesh Jaiswal while taking Rs 8,000 from the jawan Chandrabhan Singh Tomar for registration of a property in his name.

Tomar, posted in Assam, had bought the property some months ago, Lokayukta Inspector Kamal Nigwal said.

After he filed complaint about bribe demand by Jaiswal, police laid a trap and arrested the latter red-handed.

Jaiswal was released on personal bail bond of Rs 50,000. Further investigation is on.
