The indefinite strike by Patwaris (Revenue officials) in Jammu and Kashmir entered 18th day today to press for immediate fulfilment of their demands.

The revenue officials, under the aegis of All Jammu and Kashmir Patwari Association (AJKPA), went on an indefinite state-wide strike on April 8 in support of their demands, including removal of pay anomalies.

"We are aware about problems faced by the masses but our strike has been forced by government's failure to respond to our demands," an AJKPA spokesman said.

"We will continue our agitation till the demands are not fulfilled", he added.

The Patwaris are demanding among other things removal of pay anomalies and recruitment of more revenue officials.
