Taking serious note of hardships faced by Doon residents for months due to digging of roads in the city for laying sewer lines, Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul has asked officials to speed up work on the project and rid people of their everyday woes.
"People are facing difficulties due to the sewer line work underway as roads have been dug up and traffic is diverted frequently.
"Work should be completed on a priority basis within time as per the norms laid down in this regard," Paul said at a joint meeting with PWD and Jal Sansthan officials here yesterday.

Long stretches of roads in almost every locality of the city have been dug up for over six months causing umpteen hardships to commuters because of frequent diversion of routes and traffic.
He also asked PWD officials to speed up work on the three flyovers in Dehradun.
Stressing the need for maintaining quality in the construction of the flyovers, the Governor asked the implementing organisations and nodal agencies to expedite work and ensure that the fixed guidelines and the National Highways Act were not neglected at any level, an official release here said.
