Hollywood producer Paul Wagner has acquired rights of 'Mother of Hip-hop' Sylvia Robinson for a biopic to honour her legacy.

The film will chronicle the career of the late star, who was best known for her work as founder of the hip-hop label Sugar Hill Records, reported Billboard.

Robinson's label was credited as the driving force behind two popular singles, 'Rapper's Delight' by the Sugarhill Gang, and 'The Message' by music group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

Robinson's son Joey will serve as an executive producer. The icon died in 2011 after suffering from congestive heart failure.
