An unidentified man hurled a paver block at the car of a public prosecutor in Bhoiwada area of central Mumbai today morning, police said.

Manohar Kandalkar (60), the prosecutor, escaped unhurt in the incident.

Two men on motorbike caught up with Kandalkar's car and one of them got down and threw a paver block -- a concrete block used to pave the footpaths -- in his direction, a senior police official said.

However, as the car had moved, it hit the rear window, missing Kandalkar.

The duo then fled from the spot, the official added.

A case of attempt to murder under section 307 of IPC was registered at the Bhoiwada police station.

Kandalkar was the prosecutor in a case in which model Preeti Jain and Naresh Pardeshi were recently convicted for conspiring to kill film-maker Madhur Bhandarkar.
