Addressing the newly-elected taluka and district unit presidents of NCP, Pawar said the women's wing of the party needs to be strengthened. "If women join us in large numbers, we will get at least two more voters from each of their families," he added.

Pawar said the development funds of MLCs and Rajya Sabha members, elected from the legislative assembly quota, should be diverted to development work in constituencies where NCP does not have any elected representative or to constituencies which are held by coalition partner Congress.

"However, it has come to my notice that the funds are not utilised for the given purpose. Even ministers are diverting the funds to their own constituencies. This is not right," he said.

Pawar told the party workers that grievance redressal system must be set up and ministers should tour the districts frequently to ensure co-ordination with party workers and local administration.
