Pawar picks up five-for against Vidarbha

Experienced off-spinner Ramesh Powar picked up a five-wicket haul to help Gujarat bowl out Vidarbha for 236 on day one of their Group B Ranji Trophy cricket match here today.

At stumps, Vidarbha were 39 for no loss in their first innings.

For Gujarat, Shalabh Shrivastav missed out on century by five runs as the other batsmen failed to give give him enough support.

Gujarat trailed Vidarbha by 197 runs with 10 wickets remaining when the stumps were drawn for the day at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium.

Powar returned impressive figures of five for 87, as the Gujarat bowling attack revolved around the former India spinner and picked up wickets at regular intervals to frustrate Vidarbha.
 

Shrivastava struck 10 boundaries during his 144-ball knock.

Smit Patel and Priyank Kirit Panchal were batting on 13 and 21 respectively at the close of play.
