Pay panel rejects demand for increasing CBI Director's pay

The Seventh Central Pay Commission has rejected the demand of increasing the pay of CBI Director from existing Rs 80,000 to Rs 90,000.

"Adequate justification was not found by the Commission for such an upgradation. Hence, the demand has not been accepted," said the panel's report submitted to the government today.

The CBI has made a demand for upgradation of the pay of Director, CBI from current Rs 80,000 (fixed) to Rs 90,000 (fixed), it said.

At present, Cabinet Secretary, Chairman Railways Board and chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force are on Rs 90,000 pay band, which is the highest in the government hierarchy.
