Digital payments platform Paytm today said it has introduced a QR code-based payments mechanism on its Paytm Wallet app.
A shopkeeper or service provider would have to generate a QR code and start accepting digital payments. On the other hand, customers can pay via their Paytm Wallet app using their wallet balance or their saved payment instruments.
"The QR code option will allow basic service providers like kirana stores, auto-rickshaws, fast food joints and others to carry a laminated QR code of their account and receive payment even without a data connection," Paytm Vice President Payment Products Nitin Misra said.
