Pb approves health insurance scheme of Rs 50,000 for labourers

Punjab labour department today approved a health insurance scheme of Rs 50,000 for construction labourers and their families.

An official spokesman said the scheme will cover the construction labourer and four members of his family.

Besides, the department has decided to set up four skill development centres in Jalandhar, Amritsar, Mohali and Ludhiana in collaboration with Technical Education Department.

He said the department has also decided to launch a campaign to register maximum construction labourers to allow them to avail these benefits.

The spokesman further said that the labour department would extend help to dispensaries in labour colonies, being run by Punjab Health System Corporation, for providing treatment to construction workers and their families.
