Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh today reviewed the arrangements being made for the 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.

During the review meeting here at the local stadium, he also promised the government's full support in making it a memorable occasion.

Singh said his government had made a budgetary provision of Rs 100 crore for the arrangements to ensure that the celebrations were held at an unprecedented scale, befitting the historic occasion.

Concerted efforts were already afoot to give a complete facelift to the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi, he said, adding that Rs 10 crore had been sanctioned for its holistic development.

The chief minister directed officials of various departments to ensure time-bound completion of all arrangements. No laxity in this regard should be allowed, he said.

Earlier, local MLA Navtej Singh Cheema had welcomed the chief minister to the city.
