"The committee will make detailed assessment of investment potential if PIDF is waved and also calculate the indirect saving by the state if farmers switch over to basmati crop," Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said.
The committee will submit report within a week, he said.
Taking serious view of poor civic conditions in vegetable market, Badal asked Punjab Mandi Board to take immediate steps to restore sewerage and water supply network in the mandi.
He said if Punjab Mandi was earning mandi fee from Amritsar market, the board is duty bound to provide all civic amenities.
