Pb govt asks official to ensure fair water distribution in

The Punjab government today asked the Kandi Area Development (KAD) administration to sensure judicious distribution of water in the Kandi (sub-mountainous) areas.

State Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh asked officials to ensure water is distributed as per updated availability and need records in all areas sans any prejudice.

He issued these instructions during a brainstorming session at the Hydel Bhawan here to find solutions to people's grievances in the area, an official release said.

Eight MLAs from the Kandi area attended the meeting and discussed issues of their respective constituencies.

The irrigation minister watched a detailed presentation by P P Garg, Chief Engineer, KAD/Vigilance on the Kandi Canal projects and initiatives of KAD administration to ensure water availability.
 

He asked KAD officials to conduct field visits in coordination with the MLAs and people representatives to assess the ground reality.

He said no corruption, irregularity or discrimination would be allowed at any level.

Stressing on the need of forming water users associations, the irrigation minister said participation of direct beneficiaries must be encouraged to ensure proper operation and maintenance of irrigation system.
