The Punjab unit of the BJP today accused the Congress-led government in the state of failing to honour poll promises and halting public welfare schemes during its 11-month rule.

"Poll promises are not being kept, salaries are not being paid...all public welfare schemes have come to a halt and sand, transport and liquor mafia are having a free run," alleged Punjab BJP vice-president Harjit Singh Grewal and secretary Vineet Joshi here.

"Now 'goonda tax' is being collected, this is the true picture of the 11th month of Amarinder Singh's rule," the BJP leaders said, adding that "the people of Punjab have started becoming disenchanted with Singh."

They alleged that most of the government employees are on the path of struggle and have been holding protests across Punjab since last month.

"Group associations of Punjab Civil Secretariat, pensioner's association, DC office employee union, Sewa Kendra employee union, Anganwadi union, Kisan union, Mazdoor union - all are up in arms against the government," the BJP leaders said.
