Punjab government today issued directives to District Transport Officers (DTOs) in the state to take immediate action against dealers charging "excess amount" at the time of vehicle registration.

"It has come to our notice that some dealers were charging excess amount at the time of vehicle registration," an official spokesman said here.

He said that the DTOs had been directed to ensure that all vehicle dealers should display rate list of fixed tax rates in their offices.

"Strict action would be taken if any vehicle dealer is found charging more than the fixed rate for vehicle registration," he said.
