Pb govt to spend Rs 31.30 cr on vocational courses

Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema today said the education department will spend Rs 31.30 crore on setting up labs, buying tools and academic activities for vocational courses.

"For vocation education courses, the education department will incur expenditure of Rs 31.30 crore, out of which Rs 21.46 crore will be invested for setting up laboratories and procurement of tools and machinery, whereas Rs 9.84 crore be spent on the academic activities," he said.

Cheema said the state government has started six vocational courses in the field of automobile, beauty and wellness, information technology, retail, health care and security.

He said every year nearly 5,000 students will get admission in vocational education courses and after four year this number would rise to 20,000.
