Pb, Haryana reel under cold wave; Amritsar records 2.6 deg C

Cold wave continued to persist across Punjab and Haryana today, with Amritsar recording a low of 2.6 degrees Celsius.

Besides Amritsar, where last night's temperature dropped by two notches, the minimum temperatures also hovered a few notches below normal at various parts of the two states.

Fog engulfed the region again during early morning affecting normal life in both states.

Ludhiana and Patiala braved cold weather recording below normal at minimum at 6.2 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius, respectively, the MeT Department report said here.

Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala in Punjab and Ambala and Karnal in Haryana also witnessed chill during day time yesterday as the maximum temperature hovered in the range of 10-11 degrees Celsius in the five towns.
 

Union Territory of Chandigarh experienced a cold night as minimum temperature settled at 6.6 degrees Celsius.

In neighbouring Haryana, minimum temperature in Ambala and Hisar settled at 5.6 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius respectively, both down by two notches each.

Narnaul recorded a low of 5.5 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department in its forecast said cold weather conditions will continue in Punjab and Haryana while fog will occur at some places in both states during early morning and late evening hours over the next two days.
