Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the Punjab State Federation of Cooperative House Building Societies (HOUSEFED) will construct 1.24 lakh houses for lower income groups in the next two years.
The houses will be built across the state at a cost of Rs 1,205 crore.
Badal said that the society was established to address the housing shortage by providing financial assistance to the individuals for construction of houses in rural and urban areas.

"This institution has played a significant role in the housing sector of Punjab since last 45 years," he said.
He said Punjab has a huge potential in housing sector and major housing companies are investing in the state to provide residential accommodations.
