PBD to be celebrated in Guj on centenary of Gandhiji's return

Marking the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi's return to India from South Africe in 1915, the Centre has planned to celebrate the annual Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) in Gujarat in 2015, state Finance Minister Saurabh Patel said today.

"The event will complete 100 years in 2015. The central government has decided to celebrate this occasion in a grand manner in the form of Pravasi Bharitya Divas in Gujarat," he said in his budget speech in the state Assembly.

The function would be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar which is also a symbol of "modern Gujarat", he said.

The Government of India celebrates Pravasi Bhartiya Divas during January 7 to January 9 every year.
