Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sameer Bajpai extended the police custody of immigration official Devender Singh Panwar and his three accomplices till August 9 on plea by the police that their further custodial interrogation is needed to unravel the entire conspiracy to send people abroad without valid document with the help of a government official.
The three others, whose police remand was extended are Vidhyadhar, Vinit Bose, Anil Kumar Teotia, arrested after a Tibetan refugee Jigmey Singe Wangchuk was found trying to board a Kenyan Airlines flight at the IGI Airport on July 31.
All four were produced before the court after expiry of their three-day police custody, awarded on August 4.
Seeking extension of their remand, the police said a Nepalese woman, involved in the racket is yet to be traced.
According to the police, Tibetan refugee Wangchuk was detained at the IGI Airport on July 31 after the immigration officials conducted a surprise check at the boarding gate of Kenyan Airlines flight KQ-221.
Wangchuk was found travelling without valid documents and during the inquiry, immigration officials found that he was given clearance to fly to Kenya without valid documents and Visa, the police had said.
"Wangchuk succeeded in getting the boarding pass and immigration clearance on the basis of arrival visa facility which is meant only for Indians and not Tibetans," the police added. (MORE)
