Phillips Carbon Black Ltd on Thursday said its new research and development centre in Gujarat is likely to roll out two new products in the next few months.

The carbon black major on Thursday unveiled the company's Sushila Goenka Research and Development Centre in Gujarat, and proposed another such unit in Europe.

The new R&D centre, spread over 27,000 sq ft, will go a long way in facilitating new product development, PCBL Chairman Sanjiv Goenka said.

"We expect development of two products in the next three months, as the first yield from the facility headed by a Nigerian scientist," Goenka said.

Goenka, who is also chairman of the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group, said it has raised R&D spend by five times.

"At the group level, investment on R&D was Rs 20 crore last fiscal, but now, it is envisaged at about Rs 100 crore," Goenka said.
