PCI issues notice to J&K govt, cops over attack on journalists

The Press Council of India (PCI) has issued notice to the Jammu and Kashmir government and the state police over an alleged attack on journalists in the state last week.

Police had reportedly assaulted journalists in Sopore in Baramulla when they were covering a protest on May 5.

"Taking suo motu cognisance of the issue, the Chief Secretary; Secretary-Home; DGP, J&K government and Sr Superintendent of Police and Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla and SHO, Sopore have been issued notice for their reply," the PCI said in release.
