PCI notice to Delhi Police in photojournalist assault case

The Press Council of India (PCI) has issued notices to the Delhi Police over an alleged assault on a photojournalist of a Hindi daily by a traffic policemen.

The alleged incident took place yesterday when the photojournalist was clicking pictures near the India Gate as parts of his assignment.

"Taking suo-motu cognisance of the incident, notices have been issued to the Commissioner of Police Delhi and Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Delhi for their responses," the PCI said in a release today.

PCI Chairman Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad also expressed "grave concern" over reports of police assault on the photojournalist.
