A PCR team fired in the air and foiled a burglary bid at a factory located at Shahabad Dairy area in outer Delhi, police said today.
The burglars managed to escape from the spot leaving behind their implements including a hammer and iron rod that were used to break into the factory premises, said Ranvir Singh, Additional Commissioner (Operations).
The PCR staff deployed in the Shahabad Dairy area received a call about the burglary on the intervening night of November 3-4 and rushed to the spot where they met a security guard.

The security guard Kamlesh informed them about the presence of the burglars. The cops challenged them but their calls of surrender were retaliated by stone pelting by the intruders, he said.
"Under the circumstances police opened fire in the air to scare them and warned them to surrender. But they managed to escape by breaking the roof of the premises and taking advantage of the darkness," the officer said.
A case has been registered in this connection on the complaint of the security guard, at Shahabad Dairy police station and investigation has been taken up, he added.
