Hyderabad Police today invoked provisions under the stringent Preventive Detention (PD) Act against four more notorious criminals, including one person charged with conducting illegal contract marriages of minor girls from the city to Arab Shaiks.
Mohd Akber, running the business of pan shop, an immoral traffic offender, was trading and supplying minor girls for prostitution and living on their earnings, police said.
"When Arab Shaiks visited Hyderabad for contract marriages, the accused used to contact them and the poor families to perform the marriage of their minor girls. He would arrange and get their marriages solemnised," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana said.

"The acts of Akber are beyond the control of ordinary law and it is necessary to keep him under detention preventing him from involvement in subversive activities affecting the community at large," the police officer said.
Similarly, three other accused-- Syed Abdul Majeed and Syed Aslam (chain snatchers) and Mohd Sajjad Alia, illegal financer was booked under the provisions of PD Act, the DCP added.
