The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today asked party leaders and workers to gear up for the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayatelections which are expected to be held soon in Jammu and Kashmir.

"Party leaders and workers should gear up for the Urban Local Bodies and Panchayat elections, expected to be held soon in Jammu and Kashmir," PDP General Secretary Ved Mahajan said.

While addressing the party workers convention here today, Mahajan said the party needs to be ready for the election to take the state forward.

"We have to make our party ready so that we win the municipality election with success and take this state forward," Mahajan added.

Mahajan said that PDP in its election manifesto had emphasised that Jammu city should be developed as a heritage tourism destination.

"We have a comprehensive vision for developing this historic city in every sphere of life," he said, reminding that during his earlier tenure as Chief Minister from 2002 to 2005, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had initiated many revolutionary steps for beautification of Jammu.

He said that people are wise enough to compare the present PDP-BJP coalition governance and the previous dispensation and appealed to the masses to reject those who put the state on the path of non-development and corruption.

MLC Vikramaditya Singh also said that the chief minister has a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic growth of Jammu region.

He said that PDP in its agenda has also promised to implement a comprehensive programme so that Jammu will remain a favourite destination of tourists and devotees from all over the country and aboard.

The workers also expressed complete faith and confidence in the leadership of Mufti Sayeed and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to carry forward the party agenda.
