The youth wing of the opposition National Conference today accused the ruling alliance partners PDP-BJP of covertly working to dilute the special status enjoyed by the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Attempts are being made by the PDP-BJP coalition to weaken the special status of Jammu and Kashmir covertly", Provincial Youth National Conference President Jammu Ajaz Jan said today.
He said that the PDP and BJP combine must not undermine the will of people, who are ready to offer any sacrifice to safeguard their rights enshrined in the Constitution.

He said by refusing to discuss and adopt the resolution the two parties have negated peoples' massive mandate.
Jan asked those whipping up passions over this issue to remember that other parts of the country like Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, Goa enjoyed special and unique status as per various sub sections (A to G) of Article 371.
"Why Article 35-A is serving as a red rag to PDP-BJP government", he said.
The Provincial YNC President lamented over the communal agenda of BJP in disturbing the special status of the State, saying,
"In this unholy pursuit, the PDP has become a willing partner to weaken Article 370 and 35A".
He said National Conference will not allow it to happen, as it means negating the constitutional guarantee held out to the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
He said any attempt to weaken Article 35 A will be detrimental, not only to particular region or community, but the people of all faiths, regions and sub-regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
