PDP condemns killing of youth in J&K's Palhalan area

PDP today condemned the killing of a 19-year-old youth in firing by security forces in Palhalan of Pattan area of north Kashmir and termed the incident as "inhumane and barbaric".

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti said such incidents are a reminder of the need to be cautious and humane in dealing with law and order problems.

"The security forces have to be restrained in their approach and deal human life with respect and consideration for the consequences," Mehbooba added.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the PDP chief prayed for peace of the departed soul.

Mehbooba also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident. She urged the administration to lend all possible medical help to the victims.
 

Farooq Ahmad Bhat was killed when security forces fired at demonstrators who were protesting on the second anniversary of Afzal Guru's hanging in Palhalan area of north Kashmir Baramulla district.

Senior party MPs Tariq Hamid Karra and Muzzafar Hussain Baig, and MLA-elect from Pattan, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari also condemned the killing of Bhat.
