Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today strongly condemned repeated violations of the ceasefire by Pakistani forces, and urged the Centre to impress upon the Pakistan government to stop such activities.

"We strongly condemn the repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces along international borders and the Line of Control. We urge the government of India to impress upon the Pakistan government to stop such activities," PDP state vice president Trilok Singh Bajwa said today.

Addressing a meeting of party workers in Suchetgarh here, Bajwa appealed to the Centre to tackle such situations more effectively. He said peace initiatives started by the present dispensation should continue so that the people residing in the border areas and security agencies engaged in the process do not feel disheartened and their morale remains high.

Bajwa said the Centre is not taking any serious note of it, as a result of which the Pakistani army is repeatedly violating the ceasefire. He said both the governments had failed to resolve the issue in the past many years.

Bajwa claimed that this time Pak forces also targeted civilians and the framers who are working in the fields, which has triggered a sense of fears among residents.
