Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron and former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said his party is contesting the Lok Sabha polls with a progressive and visionary agenda to give voice to aspirations and wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"We are contesting elections with an agenda to send credible and trustworthy representatives to Parliament so as to effectively highlight the people's issues in the highest forum of democracy," Mufti said at a meeting at Phinter area of Billawar Assembly segment in Kathua district in support of party candidate from the Udhampur-Doda seat Arshad Malik.
Braving heavy downpours and inclement weather, a large number of people turned up to listen to Sayeed in the meeting.

"Our fight is not against any individual, we are fighting on our own agenda", he said, and added that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have endorsed PDP's agenda.
He reminded the gathering that PDP had scripted a new chapter of peace and development in the state.
He said the formation of PDP was a landmark in the political history of the state because this party has revived the people's faith in the democratic institutions.
"Unlike other parts of the country, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, for decades together, were not allowed to get the taste of democracy because NC had never allowed democracy to flourished here," he said.
"The way the people have been supporting our party is a clear indication that that there is no alternative of PDP in the state and we are going to change the destiny of the people by implementing our progressive and visionary agenda," he said, adding that the previous PDP-led regime had set an example of equitable and balanced development in the state.
He claimed that it was only during the PDP regime that governance consciousness was generated among the people and the common masses had a taste of good governance.
