Criticising the Jammu and Kashmir government for its alleged failure to cope with the situation arising out of floods, PDP today asked for immediate measures for the rehabilitation of the affected people.
"It is regrettable that despite huge losses (in the floods), the State Government has failed to reach to the affected population," senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig said in a statement here.
At least 10 persons were killed as heavy rains lashed wide parts of Jammu and Kashmir last week, causing floods in various parts damaging private and public properties and standing crops.

Baig said the government was busy in just giving assurances, while nothing concrete was done on the ground to rehabilitate those affected especially in Jammu.
"The government should immediately take all necessary measures to rescue and rehabilitate the affected population and depute teams of officers to assess the actual losses so that adequate relief should be given to them as early as possible," he said.
Collapsed houses have rendered several families homeless all over the state in general and Jammu region in particular, but requisite steps have not been taken by the government to provide them shelter, the PDP leader said.
