: Leader of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Abdul Nasser Madani's mother Asma Beevi passed away at a private hospital in the district after prolonged illness.
She was 67.
Beevi was suffering from cancer for sometime and Madani was beside her when the end came, family sources said.
An accused in the 2008 Bengaluru serial blasts case, Madani had reached the state on October 30 to visit his ailing mother after a National Investigation Agency (NIA) trial court in the capital of Karnataka granted him special permission.
Madani visited Beevi at the hospital on the day he arrived, they said.
The leader is on bail in the case but he is not permitted to leave Bengaluru without court permission, PDP sources said.
Though the PDP leader had been granted permission to stay till November 4, it was extended later for eight more days by the court based on his request citing the worsening condition of his mother, they added.
