Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) belonging to Opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) have decided to contribute Rs 30 lakh from their constituency development fund for providing aid to earthquake victims.

"The token amount would be specifically offered to poorest quake-victims in erstwhile Doda district to help them pick up threads of life again," chief spokesman of PDP and MLC Naeem Akhtar said in a statement.

It is a matter of concern that even after delayed response by the state government there are reports that not much of the promised help has reached the quake-victims, he said.
