Expressing concern over the spillover of situation in Iraq and Afghanistan into Jammu and Kashmir, Opposition Peoples Democratic Party today appealed to the Centre to discuss the issue in Parliament to find a solution to it.
"The issue of Jammu and Kashmir is being discussed every where in the world, and Indian parliament should not shy away from discussing this matter because you have to find a resolution to the problem," PDP president Mehbooba Mufti told reporters here.
"Every body is talking about what is going to happen in Kashmir after withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, and there are also reports suggesting that the militant groups fighting in Iraq have India on their agenda. In such a situation, there has to be a strategy," Mehbooba, who is a Member of Parliament from south Kashmir, said.
She said, "the militancy, which was on decline in the state, is on the rise again. Highly qualified youth are joining militant ranks which is a cause of concern.
