Over 4,500 quintals of wheat, which was to be distributed through 70 ration shops, was confiscated from the Kidderpore dock of the Kolkata port last Saturday, a senior official of the enforcement branch of the Kolkata police said.

The police said the consignment was taken out from godowns of the Food Corporation of India and kept at flour mills at Kidderpore in south-west Kolkata.

From there they were meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh through the Kidderpore dock.
