Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Karan Dev Kamboj today said implementation of the modern Public Distribution System (PDS) would directly benefit 9,352 depot holders and about 1.26 crore consumers in the state.
It would not only help in curbing corruption, but would also cut down irregularities in the distribution of ration.
Addressing depot holders at a seminar on PDS in Karnal today, Kamboj said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch the modern system on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the state's inception on November 1, 2016.

The government is also considering other possibilities, such as getting work related to pension, electricity bills and banks carried out through the depot holders.
The department is working to carry out online allocation of depots, supply chain management and providing information about the availability of foodgrains at depots to consumers through SMS alerts.
Work in this regard would soon be completed, he said.
Reiterating the commitment of the Central and state governments to implement the new PDS in a transparent manner, the Additional Chief Secretary, Food and Supplies, S S Prasad said that work on implementing the new system would be completed by October 15, 2016.
