A wildlife body today rescued a
peacock and claimed that the bird was in a disoriented state due to the thick smog which has engulfed the national capital.
Wildlife SOS rescued the peacock from Siri Fort Sports Complex here after it had flown into the area from the nearby forest early and bumped into a glass window because of poor visibility due to the smog.

"The smog post Diwali is causing distress not only to the human residents but countless animals have been bearing the brunt too. A peacock was found in a disoriented state and was unable to walk or fly," the wildlife body said.
Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder of Wildlife SOS, claimed that the city has been wrapped up in a "thick, black, poisonous" cloud of smoke since the night of Diwali.
"Not only is this extremely harmful for human beings, but animals are also at the receiving end. The peacock could have had worse injuries and could have died. We have received many more calls to rescue wild animals in distress because of this smog," he said.
The bird is currently being kept under observation and is being given the requisite treatment and after making complete recovery, it will be released back into its natural habitat, the body said.
