Pejawar Swamiji felicitated

Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt who has completed 80 years of attaining 'Sanyasa' or ascetic life, was felicitated here.

Speaking at the function yesterday, Union Minister of State for Skill Development Ananth Kumar Hegde said the life and achievements of Vishwesha Theertha Swami was truly inspirational.

The monastic tradition of the Ashta (eight) Mutts of Udupi, established by the exponent of Dvaita philosophy Sri Madhwacharya was continuing unbroken for the last 700 years.

The concept of 'Sanyasa' was India's great gift to the world, he noted.

Lok Ayukta P Vishwanath Shetty, who presided over the event, said the Pejawar seer was the pride of the entire state of Karnataka.
 

In his address, the Pejawar seer said the duty of religious heads was 'Dharma Prasara' (spreading the message of Dharma) and service to the society, which he had been doing to the best of his ability.
