Around 1,200 workers of Lal Imli textile mill have decided not to celebrate Holi this year alleging that they have not received salaries for the last eight months.

Lal Imli textile mill workers' union president B M Tripathi said that around 1,200 workers of the mill and 500 workers of sister concern Dhariwal company have not received salaries for the last eight months.

"It has become difficult for us to run our families. Hence workers have decided not to celebrate Holi this year," he said.

Tripathi threatened that the workers will not allow any officials of the mill to celebrate Holi and that they will start a 'jail-bharo' agitation.

When contacted, the company's acting GM Raja Mitra said that the officials and supervisors have also not received salaries for the last eight months while workers have not received salaries for the past seven months.

Lal Imli Textile mill comes under the Union government's Ministry of Textiles.
