Pentavalent vaccination programme in U'Khand

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat today said a pantavalaent vaccination programme will be initiated in the state from January 1 next year.

The chief minister directed the health officials to start the programme as a movement in a bid to control Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Hepatitis B and influenza type B diseases Pneumonia and Meningitis, an official release said here.

Rawat emphasised the need to make the infant mortality rate half while also curb the maternal mortality rate in the state, it said.

The Central government has marked 14 states, including Uttarakhand, for launching the pentavalent vaccination programme.
