22-year-old Nafees, a resident of Waisapur area, submitted the application of mercy killing for him and his five brothers and sisters to district magistrate Selva Kumari.
According to Kumari, Nafees stated that his father Majid died six years ago while his mother passed away two-and-a-half years ago.
He claimed that his family has not received the Rs 1 lakh farmer insurance that his father was supposed to get.
Nafees stated in his application that he was facing severe hardships in managing the family and now they were homeless as their house collapsed in the rains.
Kumari said Nafees requested permission for euthanasia on this ground, adding MNREGA and BPL cards had already been given to him.
She said that the sub divisional magistrate has been asked to inquire into the matter.
