Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti has appealed the citizens to co-operate with the government's campaign of cleaning rivers and also plant trees.

She said the government has allocated a sum of Rs 20,000 crore to cleanup the rivers but people's co-operation is very necessary (in cleaning of the rivers).

Bharti, while planting a tree on the banks of river Ganga in Behera village here yesterday, further said everyone should plant trees in barren lands that "the government has freed from land mafias".
