The death of screen legend Suchitra Sen today left the people of eastern Bangladesh's Pabna town, where she was born and studied upto class IX, in intense grief.
The people had over the last two days praying for Sen's recovery.
The actress was born on April 6 in 1931 at her maternal grand father's residence at village Vangabari of Belkuchi upazila under Greater Pabna. She passed her childhood and her younger life at her father's residence of the village Gopalpur in Pabna town.

Born as Roma Dasgupta, the actress started her academic career at Mahakali Pathshala of Pabna town and was later admitted in Pabna Girls School where she studied till class 9 in this school.
Sen's father Karunamoy Dasgupta, along with his family, migrated to Kolkata a few months before the Partition.
The people of Pabna town have been holding a festival of films featuring her on the occasion of birthday every year.
There has also been widespread demand in Pabna to get Sen's ancestral house at Gopalpur village rid of the occupation by an edutational institution backed by fundamentalist Jamaat-e-Islami and the matter is pending before the High Court.
"Suchitra Sen is the pride for Pabna. Her ancestral residence is also an historical establishment to us. But her ancestral house has been occupied. It is the demand of the people of the district to make a museum in the ancestral house of Suchitra Sen", Md. Saidul Haque convener of Suchitra Sen Memory Preservation Committee Pabna told Daily Star newspaper.
