In a bid to motivate people to vote, a group of city-based petrol pumps has announced an incentive to provide petrol cheaper by Re one per litre after verifying the indelible ink finger mark of every consumer.
The scheme will be implemented for a day tomorrow when polling will be held for 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat.
"To motivate the voters, our association has decided to provide one rupee cheaper petrol per litre for tomorrow only," said Harin Thakkar, honorary secretary of Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealers Associations.

"We will first ensure the mark of indelible ink on the finger of our consumer, then only we will provide cheaper petrol," Thakkar said.
Thakkar said the federation has taken the decision to make people aware about voting and it does not relate to promotion of any political party.
However, the rates of diesel or any other fuel will not be reduced, he said.
Ahmedabad District Collector and Returning Officer Roopwant Singh while appreciating the initiative told PTI, "It is a very good initiative. If people cast their vote, then they will get one rupee cheaper petrol. It is a welcome move."
Replying to a query, Singh said, "We do not want to tempt our voters. Reducing amount by one rupee is a symbolic move to make voters aware. We are sure of getting a good response out of this initiative.
