Former Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir, commenting on the sexual harassment allegations by a law intern against former SC judge Ashok Kumar Ganguly, today said that the people would not lose faith in the judiciary.

"Allegations can always be made, but have to be sustained. I can say that people will not lose faith in the judicial system," Kabir told reporters here.

Asked whether Ganguly should step down from the post of chairman of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission, Kabir said "One automatically does not resign on the basis of allegations.

"I know Ganguly had said that he was shocked and shattered. I know Ashokda for long when he was a member of the judiciary. I never ever would believe that this is possible," Kabir said.
