Peripheral development work of Konark Temple to start soon

India Oil Foundation (IOF) has been given the responsibility of taking up the peripheral development works to be carried out with an investment of Rs 32 crore.

About 55.68 acres have been identified for the purpose, officials said.

Major components of this project include Construction of Interpretation Garden over an area of around 35 acres, Drop out Point over 3 acres, Interpretation Centre over 4.50 acres and main parking over 13.20 acres.

The Peripheral Development Plan has also been approved by Director General of Archaeological survey of India (ASI).All the identified land are government land now being maintained by ASI.

 

The ASI authorities have been requested to allow peripheral development works to be undertaken by Indian Oil Foundation, they said.

The Collector Puri and Tehsildar have been asked to expedite the matter.
